They packed up their things after the game and came to my door to say goodbye. I can understand why they left. They have their own goals, and more importantly it was putting us in danger to travel with them. They're wanted criminals, they need to lay low and wait for the mess to be forgotten or else the killing of detectives that get too close and bounty hunters will continue. I'm glad they thought of our safety, and while I hope to see them again, I don't really think it will happen.

I wonder if Rayth will ever reach his goal of becoming half vampire again. And I wonder if that's even possible. If Jerin is reading this, Do you know if such a thing is possible? I mean, being a vampire is not a good thing, but it's who he was for so long, and it's good to be ourselves right?

I think I've lost my taste for cities though, I'm going to try to gather the group together and get to this Fae town Aile is from. It will probably cheer Kanai up immensely to be traveling again.

Meyvel 3rd

Apparently Aria has made people mad, and abandoned them heartlessly. I am not surprised. Ru is afraid of her after all. I figured she was either cold hearted or in loved with him. She honestly didn’t even remember the man. Again, not surprised.

Aris’s reach is further than I expected, and there are wanted posters of Len and Rayth all over town. To confuse the issue Rayth and Len both got haircuts. Len’s looks a lot like my little brothers. It’s tempting to ruffle his hair and see if he reacts the same. I’ll try not to though. Len seems overly sensitive about his hair. I hope he learns to like it or finds a way to grow it long again. I’d hate for him to be sad over it.

He also panics whenever anyone mentions Rayth and him together. I’ve poked at this verbally a few times, and gotten the same reaction. I might have to ask Rayth why. I know there are taboos against things like that, but really, we’d be sawing off the tree limb we’re standing on if we took offense to Len and Rayth breaking a taboo like that.

I donated to Kanai’s shrine here. I would get him a better gift, but I think that’s the greatest gift I can give right now, since the way I understand it, the belief in KANAI the god of travel is what will help keep his power separate from Wyvern long enough for us to take it back somehow. I don’t want to see him fade away…and if he was permanently mortal I think he’d be sad.

I’m going to try to look for work while we’re here for the week. I want to buy a better set of armor, and that won’t be cheap.

Meyvel 2nd - Vadiane

I finally did it! I managed to tap into the talent Rayth and Len had been certain I had and cast a shaky but real light spell. I've been trying for awhile but didn't mention it because I didn't want to disappoint anyone. I have a few more ideas that I can try now that I understand how this works better.

We found Vadiane. The land was drained of color and life... words can not convey the horror and rage I felt when I saw what had become of it. You could see what it once was, hidden beneath it all. And in that moment, if Wyvern had appeared before me dying begging for his life, I would have walked away, leaving him to linger and die. Something that could destroy a place so completely doesn't deserve compassion. Either the people that lived there had been killed and eaten by the creature that now lived there, or they'd fled, for we found no corpses. They left in a hurry though, as everything appeared like people just dropped what they were doing and ran. We killed the creature wrapped around the statue of Wynn, and released it's hold on the land.

There's color there now, but I don't know if the fae will return to it. At least, I don't know if they'll return to it while Wyvern still controls the tree. I know that this likely got his attention though. I worry about an all out fight against him. We all pretend not to realize it but he's essentially holding the lives of the people in the tree and kanai's divinity hostage.

Oddly the statue of Wynn looks a whole lot like Aile. I wonder if she went off and had children he didn't know about or something? Hm.

Looking at Vadaine my faith in the other gods helping us against this failed a little more. Where were they when all this started. Why did they let it happen? Yes, there's evil gods, but there are gods that claim to be good and just. Why didn't they stop this before it came to this? They want our worship, but leave us to clean up the messes they leave behind. Hypocritical. Of course, if you're reading this Jerin, I am not referring to gods who have a strict policy of non-involvement, but to those that took Kanai away from us and tried to punish him for his attempts to fix something that should have never gotten this bad.

As a side note, I know now that I suffer no damage from the desert like Mihaly had said. I believe everything she said to be true or as close to the truth as she knows it.

Aival 23rd

Something Pen said makes me wonder.

He said "nothing has been written" which could either mean nothing written and put in a library, or nothing written ever. If it's the latter, well.

Hi Jerin. If you're reading this I should let you know, we got Kanai back, along with Pen and Logic on the evening of Aival 23rd. I apologize for thinking your inaction was so horrible. To hear that gods who aren't of the human sacrifice variety would blame Kanai for this mess...well that's like complaining about a drop of rain when you're drowning in a lake. And we have obtained your messenger, one Ru. I suspect he's a thief. We already have one. Thank you for the kind thought though?

While Kanai was gone an army of drow, undead, and a blue dragon decided they'd like the horribly evil knife that was used to rip Cinna's soul apart. I feel bad moonrise is fighting these creatures in our defense. They're dying for something they're not involved in. Every time I see one of them fall in battle I feel worse. I'm taking out as many as I can, but even I need rest sometimes.

I'd never seen drow before. I thought they were just legends and tales told by drunks. I do know one thing. Whether I believed I'd ever see one or not, I have, and they bleed just like any other mortal creature.

I should get back to helping out with the defense. If my actions can save these people who are unknowingly defending us, then I will do all I can.

Aival 15-16 I repeat. It's a pity Len didn't agree.

I met a woman on the airship that looked like me. She said she'd met my mother before. I hesitate to believe her but I want to. It's more a lead than I've had before. I suppose these people outside of moonrise will add credibility to her story.

I'd like to say I stayed up much of the night thinking about what this means, and questions I will ask the people at moonrise about myself, but that wasn't the bulk of my thoughts. My thoughts turned to the cultist we'd captured and what this all meant for our group, and our goals.

Gareth is rather frightening, I'm worried what it will do to our group if he takes it into his head to reform Rayth. We need someone like Rayth with us, someone who won't hesitate to kill our threats. I see what happened to that cultist after Gareth got ahold of him, and I wonder if it wouldn't have been more merciful to just kill the poor man.

There's a festival going on though, and I will take this short time to enjoy it. We all need to have a little fun when the world's crashing down around our heads right? Either that or she slips in and out of insanity, you never know.

Tenna claims to not be crazy, though anyone who'd kill another sentient being for tribute to their god can't be that sane to begin with. She knew a lot less than I thought, or this is some elaborate game. Given her past actions I couldn't put that past her until she showed us one of the spots where the tree is rotting.

There are a few possible explinations for this in my mind, which are probably wrong so I'll have to ask Kanai about it sometime.

Wyvern killed Wynn and then tree came into being, that this tree is the form he has trapped Wynn in and she's personally dying.

Wyvern is going insane and planning something bad and not diverting enough of the stolen Wynn power to the tree.

Aile's prayers are breaking the bonds on Wynn's power.

The third one comes to me because Wyvern wants fae dead, and Aile's hymm made the tree quake. It could be that the lack of sacrifice combined with the new follower of Wynn has made it harder for Wyvern to hold on to her power.

This is definitely something to discuss with Kay.

I think Tenna understood that we had to kill Kieran. She knew him better than I did, and even then, I saw someone in such agony that it was mercy when Aile finished him off.

She claims to have detained us out of fear for herself, even though she knew Relis was planning bad things, and insane, and that Kieran was sending out assassins and also quite mad. We never went to them with intent to kill, and she was perfectly safe unless she decided to be hostile as well.

I am going to ask her to tell her people about Wynn as a sign of good faith. It'll be hard talking Kanai into it, but the more people know, the harder it is for Wyvern to cover it up. It'll also lead to doubt amongst his people, and that can only aid us in our attempts to rid the world of him.

I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. Jean and Cinna almost certainly are on their way to moonrise safely, maybe we can send a message to someone up there. I don't know of anyone in our merry group of misfits knows anyone up there but it's worth a shot.

We can NOT trust Tenna, because Wyvern's deep in her mind now, and could probably snap it like a dry twig if he wanted to. However, we can believe her story. I'm inclined to.

Aival 11th Giant Maggots and Trust

I'm not sure what Tenna is playing at putting us up in a nice inn for the night before talking to us but it can't be good.

On our way here we helped the guards clean out a nest of undead icky stuff. I think they trust us now. They seemed a lot less hostile afterwards anyway. We probably contradict the information they've been given about us. Jean ran off with Cinna though. Maybe that flaky dragon will get him to that moon place fast. She's very attached to him.

I finally found out that the walls in sentry were changed to stone by druids, which makes me suspect what happened in Rain may not necessarily have been the hand of Wyvern. We'd just met Tenna before that happened. Tenna has druids to spare at her temple. She's subtle, and would never show outright that it's her doing this. If this is what actually happened I have doubts about turning her to our cause, but it's something to figure out tomorrow.

Rayth helped me spend my share of the money we got from selling the stuff we've picked up. I bought a Mithralmist Chain shirt. It allows me to put a concealing mist in the area, I can still see through it I've been told. This will be useful if we're being tricked by Tenna..we might have a chance to escape. I bought a ring that he said will make it so I don't have to eat and only have to sleep a few hours each night. This will help sort out the issue of guarding camp. I also bought new clothing. The undead maggot on the way to Cira spewed acidic goo all over me and I'd rather burn the clothes than attempt to wash them off. I bought winter weight clothing too, since it looks like we'll not be done this by winter, and I hear it's colder in the higher branches. The clothing I bought is a dark blue color that's close to my eyes, like my stepmother always told me I should wear. It's nicer than the clothes I had before I think. My hair's starting to get longer again, but it's nothing to worry about just yet.

I do not look like he bad guy. Maybe this will cause tenna's druids a moment's hesitation. One can only hope.

Aival 10th - Trapped

We should have gone around Sentry. But I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Our plans changed after we met up with Jean and Cinna outside of Aris. Cinna is dying despite everything people are doing. I know it. My best guess is that when a soul is born with a shard it's woven into it in such a way that it is the force that keeps it alive. Gareth had one of his random crazy visions that help for Cinna is at the top of the tree, so we headed towards Tresnic to try to get an airship up to the tree.

We got stopped in Sentry by three rather unguardlike guards, but the other guards seem to believe they're guards so who knows.

The first one is this giant man that meep says smells like a dragon. I asked him if he was and he said no. He's probably a half dragon like Jean. I don't know why half dragons are so afraid of telling people they're half dragons but it seems like a common trait for the species.

The second one is a relatively normal guy who doesn't seem to want to be with us anymore than we want to be with them. He seemed genuinely surprised about Meep. I guess psuedodragons aren't common companions. I don't know why the big guy thought we'd attack him. Cinna can barely keep up the pace they set and while I'm pretty sure we could take this guy out we'd never get past the third one.

She's strange, doesn't show any emotion and Len seems afraid of her. I figure when the wizard is afraid of a magic user that probably means she's extremely powerful. I asked her a few questions but didn't really get any information as to whats going on.

I do think I know what's going on though. They're taking us to Cira. That means Tenna. Gareth has indicated that he hopes to keep Tenna from killing anyone, and since he's really strange he just might pull it off. I'm going to tell her everything that's happened in an attempt to sway her from killing us.

She had to know Kieran. If she's not completely gone, maybe she'll understand. Maybe she'll be just as horrified at what he became, and maybe she doesn't know what he said to us as he died.

I know I will never forget it. The madness, the voices, being unable to heal anymore. What kind of god does that to their followers? "Kill my god too so I don't have to spend eternity with him."

I grew up around yellowroot, and the memories of our encounter with him still chill me to the bone. He was a good man, driven insane for one god's petty insecurities.

Maybe she'll understand. If she doesn't..well...it's not like we haven't put other priests of Wyvern out of their misery.

Fump - Aival 8th

We caught both the hunters and got Kanai back. It was kind of our fault I think. I’m not really sure what that person outside wanted, but there are definitely people trying to kill Aile. But that’s not the order things happened at all.

See it started out with an adorable little dragon appearing and hanging around us from Kat singing all the time. I suppose he’s somewhat dangerous but he’s really too cute to worry about.

Then we got attacked by griffons. I didn’t know the road was so dangerous. A strange person fought with us and then latched on to our group. Jagreth thinks he’s okay so I guess it’s fine. I wonder if he usually gather’s so many people like that. I’ll have to ask him sometime when he isn’t grumbling because it’s morning.

When we got to Moss, Aile got attacked by an assassin. We captured him and she was rather horrifying in the way she questioned him, but maybe I’d act that way too if my life was on the line. I don’t know..it all seemed too rough to me, so I made sure she at least didn’t kill him. He really didn’t look like he wanted to hurt her anyway. She made more threats and dragged him back with us. I have the letter he was given in my pocket now. I think it’s magical. When we get to Aris I’m going to try to find someone to tell me what kind of magic the symbol on it is.

After we’d all gone to sleep for the night the inn was attacked. I suspect it was another assassin after Aile, but we’ll never know, as they’re very dead now. We left because there wasn’t any other place for a group our size to stay in Moss. We should arrive in Aris tomorrow according to everyone here, so I’ll add more information about the letter if I get it.

Wyvail 29th

Sometimes you just know the situation would be better if you weren't there. Without me around my family won't have near as much trouble as they do now. People won't bother them simply because I'm different. I also can take this chance to find my mother and her people, and maybe learn more about why I'm different.

Jagreth has agreed to take me on as an assistant for one of his routes. My practice drills with the spiked chain impress people and he says I look honest. Whatever that means. After we get up as far as he goes I'm to set off on my own. I hope to have a lead by then to find my mother.

I leave tomorrow but everything is packed and ready. Kaeli even gave me some of her beads to remind me of them as I travel and I've braided them into my newly shortened hair. I hope I can bring back something wonderful for them.
